Rock Your English! wins an award!

2nd prize education award.jpgSeptember, 2010: ROCK YOUR ENGLISH! comes in second in the Fontys Education Award 2010!

I am very pleased to announce that Rock Your English! has won an award.

The Fontys college organization has found my book to be the second best educational development for the 2010 academic year! The first prize winner built a rehabilitation center and her prize was very well deserved - congratulations, Sophie! The jury report for Rock Your English says:

'The book's revolutionary approach and its pioneering method creates a bridge between educaton and youth culture. This, combined with Buffi's passion and enthusiasm for her work and her students, is a remarkable achievement and a product of great value for the Fontys organization of colleges.'

I am using part of my prize money to buy my dear colleagues at the Rockacademie a new espresso machine. They deserve caffeine rich and ever-flowing.

Summer, 2010
There’s been so much going on, I have no idea where to start!

Rock Your English!
Rock Your English! is now nearly through the second printing, and we are focusing on the foreign editions, starting with Norway, which will be published in early 2011. Rock Your English! has also been nominated for the Fontys Education Award 2010! The winner will be announced at the end of August.

Artist Coaching
I’ve spent lots of time coaching some amazing artists – going through the finishing touches of Jacqueline Govaert’s lyrics for her fantastic solo debut, killing lyrical darlings with amazing Bart for Racoon’s newest album, international media and interview training for the fabulous Caro Emerald, screening lyrics for the spectacular Stevie Ann, and co-writing with the incredible Jasper Erkens in Belgium.

Other Funky Stuff
I’ve also been doing fun stuff for MTV, and the Poetry Circle in Amsterdam, as well as rockin’ at the Rock Academy and the Design Academy. Every week I find myself in another city, giving Rock Your English! Workshops, and I’ve loved meeting the teachers and students who have been using the Rock Your English! method. I’m also going to be the English Department at the Albeda College in Rotterdam (Music and Artist Department) from August onwards, and am looking forward to rocking their English, too!

This was taken during a photo shoot with the brilliant Belgian lensman Koen Bauters. This has nothing to do with 'News' whatsoever, I just wanted to share my dark and mysterious side with you all. Thank you for indulging me.
